Two women arrested following seizure of €1.28m worth of cannabis at Shannon Airport

The women, aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently detained at a garda station in the Southern Region

 Donegal had 300 people looking for addiction treatment for cannabis in five years

TWO WOMEN have been arrested following the seizure of €1.28m worth of cannabis at Shannon Airport.

Gardaí arrested the two women after Revenue officers seized suspected herbal cannabis (64 kg) with an estimated value of €1,280,000 at the airport this Monday.

The women, aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently detained at a garda station in the Southern Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
