Gardaí launch investigation following the discovery of a body in Nenagh

GARDAÍ have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of a woman in a housing estate in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

The woman's body was found at a residence in St Joseph's Park on Sunday afternoon.

A garda spokesperson has said they are investigating "all the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman."

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly after midday. The woman, aged in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene, and her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick (UHL).

The scene was preserved for technical examination by the Garda National Technical Bureau, and the coroner was notified.

The State Pathologist completed their post-mortem examination this Monday, August 5.

The results of the post-mortem will not be released for operational reasons.

A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Nenagh Garda Station.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to support the family of the deceased woman.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who were in the St Joseph’s Park area of Nenagh between 8pm, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, and midday on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Additionally, anyone with video recordings, including motorists with dash cams, from the area within the timeframe are asked to provide footage to investigating gardaí.
