Gardaí are urging pet owners to be cautious about dog attacks

GARDAÍ in Limerick are warning pet owners about dogs attacking animals.

On Thursday, June 13, gardaí received a report about dogs attacking and frightening a foal on the Ballysimon Road.

Then two days later, on June 15, gardaí got a report of dogs entering a farmyard in Newcastle West and frightening calves.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, the crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station told Limerick Live: “The message to dog owners of the importance of protecting their dogs cannot be repeated enough.

“Keep your dogs within your property and if they are out, make sure that they are under your control. Know if your dog is on the restricted breeds list and follow the directions regarding muzzle wearing and leads if they are.”
