CLARE GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired at a halting site in Ennis.
Videos of the incident are being shared widely on social media, showing two men clad in black entering a halting site on the outskirts of Clare's capital town, in broad daylight.
A follow up video, shows damage done to a Ford Focus, which the owner says had its side and back windows hacked with a machete and shot at with a firearm.
Clare gardaí confirmed: "Gardaí are investigating reports of a firearm being discharged in the Beech Park area of Ennis at approximately 2:45pm yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 10th January 2023."
A spokesperson said that no person was injured during the incident.
"No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing," they added.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
They are appealing for anyone who was in the area and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this available to investigating Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ennis Garda station on 065 6848 100.
