A SYNDICATE from County Clare has won €50,000 after purchasing a Merry Money scratch card in Limerick!
The pair, from Clare, made the journey to Dublin to collect their top prize months on from buying the lucky ticket in Costcutter Inver, Unit 2, Watchouse Cross.
Speaking on the amazing news, one half of the syndicate said: “It was just before Christmas. I scratched it and didn’t realise it was a winner until my daughter doublechecked it. When she said it, I told her not to be daft, until I took another look and realised she wasn’t joking!”
While the duo haven’t pinned down plans just yet, both are looking forward to treating their friends and family, marking the occasion with a proper celebration soon.

It was a week of big smiles and even bigger celebrations at the National Lottery, as scratch card players from across the country arrived at the winners room to collect a series of standout prizes.
A family syndicate of five from Longford brought serious excitement after claiming the €200,000 top prize on an All Cash Spectacular scratch card. The winning ticket was purchased at Tesco, Longford Shopping Centre.
The syndicate lead was the one who uncovered the top prize win: “I was convinced it was €20,000 at first. I took a picture and sent it into our group chat. The messages came flying back, ‘Is this real?’ The phone started hopping.”
One member added, “I ended up driving to a shop that was over 20km away to check the scratch card, we were very eager to get it validated as soon as possible before the excitement went any further!”
The family are already lining up a celebration, with one member planning a holiday and another finally getting around to tarring the front of their house.
A Galway woman rounded out the celebrations after claiming a €20,000 Money Multiplier prize from a ticket bought at Oasis/Aramark in University Hospital Galway.
She commented: “I bought the scratch card just before lunch. I had a few minutes to spare, so I sat down and scratched it. When I saw €20,000, my jaw dropped. I was in shock for two or three days afterward. I kept it well hidden and checked on it nearly every day!”

With Mother’s Day marked in the diary for this Sunday, the National Lottery is reminding players planning on gifting a scratch card to always support the ‘Gift Responsibly’ campaign. They are encouraging players to keep lottery play for those who are aged 18 and older.
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan had the following advice: “Could your mum be celebrating a big win this Sunday with the gift of a National Lottery Scratch Card? It really could be a Mother’s Day to remember! We encourage all of our players to support our Gift Responsibly campaign and to always remember when you are purchasing any National Lottery product as a gift, whether at Mother’s Day or any time of the year, it is always important to gift responsibly. National Lottery products are strictly for those who are aged 18 years and over.”
