A Limerick man said the roadworks affected hundreds of houses
A DOORADOYLE resident has voiced his anger after several nights of late-night roadworks he says has caused severe disruption, with some works reportedly continuing well past 3am.
Sean Elder, who lives at Cedar Downs near the roundabout connecting to Mulcair Road and the Crescent Shopping Centre, said the noise in the early hours of Thursday morning was “extremely bad,” with steam rollers and kango hammers in use after 3am.
Mr Elder said the roadworks have been ongoing for a number of nights, affecting hundreds of homes in the area. “Nobody in the locality has received any communication or consultation... Nobody has been given an opportunity to object to this particular work.”
Mr Elder said he contacted the gardaí at around 3am on Thursday due to the level of noise.

Frustrated by the disturbance, Mr Elder said he went outside in his pyjamas to document vehicle registration numbers shortly after 3am. “This was absolutely disgraceful. I went out at 3am in my pyjamas to take photographs of the registration numbers of their vehicles.”
He described workers as “not very pleased,” with one allegedly attempting to remove a license plate while joking that the numbers were false.
A spokesperson for Limerick Council said: "Works refer to the laying of a ESB power line for Eli Lilly which was constructed along Dooradoyle road via Churchill road and Ballycummin road. The contractor ahead of schedule commenced the permanent reinstatement of the impacted roads from 18th November ahead of schedule at night-time. The works which were scheduled to take up to three weeks have now been fully completed."
