THE COLLEGE of Further Education and Training (CFET) Raheen Campus has successfully completed the second round of its campus-based bottle and can recycling initiative.
They managed to raise €800 for Limerick Animal Welfare thanks to the ongoing support of students and staff.
The initiative, first launched by instructor Micheal MacMahon, began as a once-off fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.

However, following its initial success, staff and students decided to continue the project, choosing a different charity beneficiary for each round.
For this latest fundraiser, instructor Robert McCoy had the opportunity to select the recipient charity after his name was drawn from a hat, the system used among instructors to determine who nominates the next cause.
“I know they are short of funds and I felt a lot of charities were getting an awful lot of donations and the Limerick Animal Welfare wasn't getting as much as they should,” said Robert.
The Raheen campus has already kicked off collections for its next round of donations. This time, proceeds will go toward supporting a former CFET instructor who is undertaking the Malin to Mizen walk in aid of Gaza.
