Dale, from Ballinacurra Weston, passed away in Tenerife in 2021.

The local community joined together to celebrate Dale’s life with a soccer tournament at Hyde Rangers FC on the Hyde Road.

The family day featured matches for men, women and children, ladies penalty shootout, ice cream van, party bags, face painting and lots of games. Many wore T-shirts with Dale's face printed on the front.

Dale’s family said he had “a passion for soccer, playing with Hyde Rangers and many other teams in Limerick”. Dale's friends, in conjunction with the local ABC club, organise this tournament every year to keep his memory alive.

"There are memorial shields for the winners of the men's and women's matches, medals for the runners-up and children, and a trophy for the penalty shootout winner.

“We as Dale's family look forward to this event every year. We would like to thank everyone involved in organising and taking part in the event.

“We would also  like to thank the sponsors (see picture below) who donate every year and Hyde Rangers for hosting it.

"It’s great to see Dale's memory kept alive,” say his family.
