Limerick welcomes cyclists on epic charity ride from Mizen to Malin

Kat Reddan, Trish Finnegan, Elaine McCarthy and Martina Condel will tackle the long journey for charity

LIMERICK city is set to host four determined cyclists this Sunday, August 17, as part of a 575km charity cycle in support of Irish Guide Dogs and Epilepsy Ireland.

Work colleagues turned teammates, Martina Condell, Elaine McCarthy, Kat Reddan, and Tricia Finnegan, will arrive at the University of Limerick on day two of their five-day journey, which kicks off in Mizen Head on Saturday, August 16.

The group of cycling enthusiasts plan to complete the Mizen to Malin challenge in five days, passing through several major cities along Ireland’s west coast.

The cycle is in aid of two charities close to the group’s heart. For cyclist Kat Reddan, Epilepsy Ireland holds special meaning, as a close family member has benefited from the organisation’s invaluable support.

The team’s decision to also support the Irish Guide Dogs was inspired by their colleague and friend, Marie Ryan, mother to Shane Ryan. Marie is an active member of the Limerick Ladies Cycling Club.

Shane lives with a visual impairment and has experienced first-hand the transformative impact of the Irish Guide Dogs’ services. Recognising this, the team felt strongly about supporting the charity and the life-changing work it does for families like Marie’s.

Passionate about cycling and united by cause, the women came up with the idea for this endurance ride as a meaningful way to give back.

With a mix of determination and heart, they’re pedalling across Ireland to raise awareness and vital funds for two organisations making a real difference.

Supporters are encouraged to follow their journey and donate if they can - every kilometre counts.
