St Munchin’s students tackle virtual cycle

ST MUNCHIN’s College Transition Year students are gearing up for an endurance challenge like no other, as they prepare to cycle the length of Ireland—virtually.

The TY Go Mad (Make a Difference) fundraiser will see students pedal non-stop for 24 hours on stationary bikes, covering the 600km distance from Malin Head to Mizen Head without leaving the venue.

This inspiring event, set to take place on Thursday, March 13 aims to raise €5,000 in aid of MS Ireland and Limerick Suicide Prevention, two organisations that provide crucial support to individuals living with multiple sclerosis and those struggling with mental health challenges.

“We wanted to take on a challenge that would not only push us physically but also raise awareness for causes that impact so many lives,” said Dylan O’Connell, one of the TY students.

“By coming together as a TY group, we hope to show that young people can make a real difference,” added Dan Hogan, another one of the TY students.

The fundraiser will take place at St Munchin’s College Sportshall in Corbally, with students taking turns cycling to ensure the virtual journey continues non-stop for 24 hours.

Members of the community are encouraged to come along and cheer on the participants or donate to support the cause on ww.idonate.ie. They are calling on local businesses, family, and friends to help them reach their target of €5,000.
