Artist named finalist for top Australian  awards

FORMER Ennis Road resident artist Thomas Delohery but now living in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia was named a MAP Portrait Prize finalist with a portrait of actor Lachy Hulme and a Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award finalist again with another portrait of actor Lachy Hulme.

The MAP Portrait Prize is being held in the Mudgee Arts Precinct and the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award in the South East Centre for Contemporary Art - both galleries are in New South Wales and both exhibitions run until February 2025.

Delohery's sitter for both portraits is actor Lachy Hulme who played Immortan Joe and Rizzdale Pell in Furiosa A Mad Max Saga acting opposite Chris Hemsworth.

Hulme kindly sat twice for Delohery and they bonded over their mutual love of good Cuban cigars.
