FIXTURES in round five of the energia All-Ireland League take place this Saturday with Limerick's seven senior clubs facing crucial games.
Just two Limerick sides, UL-Bohemian in Division 2B and Division 2C leaders Thomond recorded wins in last Saturday's round of fixtures. Games kick off at 2.30pm on Saturday unless otherwise stated.
In Division 1A, Young Munster continue their search for a first win of the campaign when hosting Old Belvedere at Tom Clifford Park. Munsters’ sit in seventh place in the table after suffering defeat in their opening four fixtures although a haul of seven bonus points sees the Greenfields side seven points clear of basement side Nenagh Ormond.
A late fight back from Munsters’ saw them claim two points as they lost 40-35 at home to Lansdowne last weekend. Two late tries from Orin Burke and Aaron Roulston, both converted by Kelvin Langan, proved crucial. Hubert Gilvarry, Liam McMahon and Burke also dotted down. Shane O’Leary added two conversions and Langan one.
Meanwhile, in Division 1B, Garryowen will look to get their promotion campaign back on track when hosting Old Wesley at Dooradoyle on Saturday afternoon.
With two wins and a draw from their opening four league fixtures, Garryowen currently sit in fifth place in the 1B table, one spot behind fourth-placed Wesley.
The two Limerick sides competing in Division 2A both face home fixtures this Saturday afternoon.
Fifth-placed Old Crescent will look to bounce back to winning ways when hosting Galway Corinthians at Takumi Park.
Both sides have won two and lost two of their opening four league fixtures this season, with fourth-placed Corinthians enjoying a slim one point advantage over Crescent on the league table.
Also in Division 2A on Saturday, eighth-placed Shannon face a crunch home fixture against Ballymena, 1.30pm kick-off time on the back pitch at Thomond Park. Both Shannon and Ballymena have won just one of their four AIL fixtures this season.
The Division 2B action sees second-placed UL-Bohemian who have won all four of their league fixtures this season, make the long trip to The Cran to face Clogher Valley at 1.30pm on Saturday.
UL-Bohs, who have won three of their four league fixtures with bonus points. trail table toppers Galwegians by a single point in the Division 2B table.
The Division 2C action sees table toppers Thomond hosting Belfast Harlequins at Liam Fitzgerald Park on Saturday. Thomond have recorded bonus point wins in each of their league wins this season. The Fitzgerald Park side are currently five points clear of second-placed Clonmel in the Division 2C table.
Also in Division 2C this Saturday, Bruff entertain Dolphin at Kilballyowen Park. The South Limerick side sit in seventh place in the 2C table, with two wins from their opening four league fixtures. Both Bruff and Dolphin have won two of their opening four league games to date.
