The tree will be launched the same day Santa is due to arrive at the Crescent Shopping Centre
LIMERICK Central Rotary Club will be operating its inaugural Remembrance Tree in the Crescent Shopping Centre this December.
The Remembrance Tree will be located in the Garryowen Mall entrance lobby in the shopping centre from Sunday, December 1 to Sunday, December 22, next to a new mural by local Limerick artist Patrick Harnett.
It will be operated by Limerick Central Rotary Club in partnership with the Crescent Shopping Centre and four charity partners – Down Syndrome Limerick, Limerick Mental Health Association, Doras and St Munchin’s Community Centre.
Proceeds raised at the Remembrance Tree will go to support these local charities.
The tree will be launched on December 1 by Mayor John Moran, to coincide with the arrival of Santa Claus at the Crescent Shopping Centre.

The Unity Gospel Choir Limerick will be performing at the tree on Sunday, December 1 and Sunday, December 15.
Ger Lynch, president of Limerick Central Rotary Club, commented: “The Remembrance Tree will provide a public focal point for people to remember a loved one who has passed on, is unable to be home for Christmas or someone they would just like to remember, while also raising funds for four important local causes”.
Eimear Dwan, marketing manager with the Crescent Shopping Centre, said: “The Remembrance Tree is an important part of the Christmas period, and we are very excited to have a tree here at the Crescent this December. We are looking forward to working with Limerick Central Rotary Club on this project and hope all our shoppers will put a ribbon on the Remembrance Tree”.
People wishing to support this fundraising project can also make an online donation via the Limerick Central Rotary Club website.
