University of Limerick book place in Ashbourne Cup semi-finals

THE UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK camogie team have booked their place in the Ashbourne Cup semi-finals. UL will have home advanatge against UCC in the Ashbourne Cup semi-final on Tuesday February 3.

The Castletroy-based college are aiming to complete an historic three in-a-row after winning the last two Ashbourne Cups.

There is plenty of Limerick representation on the UL squad.Shauna Cunningham, of Killeedy, is joint-captain of the side along with Clare's Caoimhe Cahill.

Monaleen's Caoimhe Lyons is into her seventh season of playing Ashbourne Cup, while pursuing a medical degree at the University of Limerick.Donna Kenny, of Croagh Kilfinny, and Laura Southern are also part of the University of Limerick squad.

UL edged past University of Galway 0-16 to 0-14 in the league final. Declan Nash, who was in charge of the Kildimo-Pallaskenry senior footballers and hurlers in 2025, is also in charge of the Limerick college.

UL have recorded impressive victories in this year's competition. The reigning Ashbourne Cup champions defeated SETU Waterford 8-24 to 0-7 and got the better of UCD 2-14 to 0-1 in round two.
