Well-known restaurant in Limerick ceases trading after almost 40 years

End of an era at Parkway Shopping Centre as manager shares bad news
A WELL-KNOWN restaurant in Limerick has ceased trading after almost 40 years in business.
Planters Restaurant at Parkway Shopping Centre served its final customers on Saturday.
In a statement posted to social media, shopping centre manager Liam Gleeson said there is sadness.
“For nearly four decades, Planters has been much more than just a restaurant. It has been a place where friendships were formed, families gathered, and countless memories were made. It became a familiar and welcoming part of everyday life for so many of our loyal customers, particularly those who have visited Parkway Shopping Centre for many years,” he said.
Mr Gleeson thanked staff at Planters for their dedication, professionalism and friendship over the years.
“On a personal note, since joining Parkway as centre manager, I have always found the staff at Planters to be incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating. They have been a pleasure to work alongside and they will be greatly missed around the centre,” he added. “Our heartfelt thanks also go to Audrey and Saundra, whose hard work, commitment and passion helped make Planters such a well-loved part of Parkway Shopping Centre for 38 years. We wish them every happiness and success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”
Mr Gleeson says there has already been strong interest in the restaurant unit at the Parkway Shopping Centre, and it’s hoped there will be a new eaterie in place in the near future.
“Thank you, Planters, for 38 years of wonderful memories. You will always be an important part of Parkway's story,” he concluded.
