A POPULAR family-run business based in Newcastle West which has been in operation for over 50 years has announced its closure.

"After more than five wonderful decades, our family has made the bittersweet decision to retire and bring our bakery and restaurant chapter to a close on 31st December 2025."

"Our parents began this journey in the late 1960s with a simple aim, to bake quality breads, cakes, and confectionery, and to serve honest, delicious food made with care. Over the years, we’ve been honoured to become part of so many family milestones, from christening cakes to birthday cakes, wedding cakes, and everything in between. It’s been our greatest joy to grow alongside our community and share in your celebrations."

The Condon family also thanked their loyal customers for their friendship, support, and for making them part of their lives for so many years. "To our dedicated staff, past and present, we could not have done it without your hard work, passion, and commitment to excellence. You’ve truly been the heart of our business."

They're also encouraging all customers with gift vouchers to use them before December 31.

The Condon family ended the statement, saying: "We are encouraged by the level of interest from people who wish continue operating the business even though we only announced our retirement in recent days, we are optimistic the business will continue into the future under new management. From our family to yours, thank you for more than half a century of memories, laughter, and shared moments."

Peg Condon started the business in 1970 selling baked goods from their home in Maiden Street, then brothers Tom, Michael and Richard Condon continued to grow the business.
