ONE of Limerick’s best-known menswear retailers has picked up a bi-monthly Tidy Towns award.

Staff at Mike O’Connell Menswear, based at Catherine Street in the city centre are celebrating after they landed the Limerick City Tidy Towns prize for March and April this year.

Maura O’Neill, Limerick City Tidy Towns, said volunteers were impressed by the fact the premises was given a new coat of paint recently.

She also praised the “beautiful signage and spotlessly clean windows”.

“In addition, any litter that is dropped or left outside the shop is also regularly picked up by Joe and the rest of the staff we are delighted to acknowledge their efforts with this award. Our aim with these awards is to try to get every business in the city to take pride not only in the appearance of their shops and offices, but also in the public area outside them,” she said.

Mike O’Connell Menswear and Dress Hire was established in the city centre back in 1986.

The firm becomes Limerick City Tidy Town’s second winner for 2025, joining Crew Brewing Company which won the award for January and February.

Both firms are in with a chance of becoming the overall winner for 2025.
