THERE was bad news on the jobs front this Wednesday after it emerged a major furniture retailer on the city’s outskirts is closing. CostPlus Sofas/Beds Etc employs approximately 12 people at its store in the Eastway Business Park.

The doors at the outlet were shut this Wednesday, and a spokesman for the firm confirmed the Limerick branch is to remain closed for good.

A message on the company’s web site said that the firm has taken the decision to restructure the business in Ireland.

“This will involve the closure of many stores,” it read, adding all warranties and deliveries will be honoured. CostPlus sofas has 23 branches across the country.

It is the second closure on the city outskirts, following Wickes DIY’s cessation of business in February.
