Man arrested following significant drugs and cash seizure in Limerick

A MAN has been arrested following a significant drugs seizure in Limerick city.

Cocaine worth an estimated €210,000 and a large quantity of cash was seized during search operation at a house at St Mary's Park at around 2.30pm this Monday.

"During the course of the search, 3.1kg of suspected cocaine was seized with a street value of over €210,000. A large quantity of cash was also seized. The drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland," said a garda spokesperson.

A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Henry Street garda station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Subject to the approval of a judge, he can be detained without charge for a maximum of seven days. 

Investigations are ongoing.
