LIMERICK City and County Council has confirmed plans are being finalised to show Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final between Limerick and Kilkenny on a big screen at O'Connell Street in the heart of the city.
In a public notice, to be published in this week's Limerick Leader newspaper, the local authority has indicated any homecoming event will also take place at O'Connell Street.
Details of the 'emergency temporary closure of roads' - to facilitate both events have been revealed and, according to the public notice, O'Connell Street - between Patrick Street and Mallow Street - will be closed to traffic from 6pm on Friday and 6pm next Tuesday.
Motorists are being advised that a number of other roads around the city centre will also be closed for 72 hours between Friday and Tuesday.
Limerick City and Council Council says pedestrian access to footpaths will be maintained at all times and the that local diversions will be in place.
It says access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
