Motorcyclist dies following road collision close to Limerick-Cork border

The road is closed and local diversions are in place

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a road collision in north Cork - close to the Limerick border.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the incident which involved a tractor and a motorcycle and which occurred at Gooseberry Hill, Newmarket approximately 8.15pm on Tuesday.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries to persons was reported," said a garda spokesperson.
 
"The road at Gooseberryhill, Newmarket is currently closed with local diversions in place. Forensic Collision Investigators are expected to conduct an examination of the scene this morning," they added.


 
Investigating gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
 
"Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the Gooseberryhill area between 7.45pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday are asked to make this footage available to gardai," said the spokesperson.
