LIMERICK Writers' Centre will host a one-day intensive workshop, encouraging participants to create their own poetry and short stories.

The introductory workshop will take place at the People's Museum of Limerick in Pery Square on Saturday, September 27.

A poetry session will be held from 10am to 12.30pm followed by a short story session from 2pm to 4.30pm.

The workshop costs €80 and will be led by Órfhlaith Foyle, a Galway-based poet and short story writer.

"This workshop aims to encourage participants to realize how intrinsic poetry and short stories are to life, and how each form thrives on the truth and imagination of the writer," explains Foyle. "By the end of the day, each participant will have created their own poetry and begun their own short story."

Founded in 2008, The Limerick Writers Centre is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to nurturing and supporting writers through workshops, readings, and publishing initiatives. Since 2009, the Centre has published 204 titles under its Community Publishing Programme, establishing itself as a vital resource for the Irish literary community.

The workshop will include comprehensive materials such as handouts, writer quotes, reading lists, and website links to support continued learning beyond the session.
