Busy summer for Limerick Celtics basketball players in International action

Limerick Celtic players Madelyn Hartigan and Meabh Purtill who represented Ireland on the U16 team

LIMERICK Celtic basketball players have been extremely busy over the summer months as they have taken to the court to represent Ireland in a number of age groups. Six Limerick Celtic players have gained international caps throughout the summer. 

Madylen Hartigan and Meabh Purtill have already represented Ireland on the U16 team and will now compete in the U16 Girls European Champions in Konya Turkey from August 15- 24.

The Irish U16 play their opening game against the Ukraine on August 15th and are in Pool B with hosts Turkey, Slovakia, Kosovo and the Ukraine.

Elsewhere Lucy Devoy and Gandi Malou represented Ireland in the U20 Girls Championships in Bulgaria. Ruairi Cronin and Phillip Kearney represented Ireland in the U20 Men European Championships in Romania.

Ruairi had the added privilege of being named U20 captain of the Irish team during the tournament
