Success for Limerick athletes at Munster Track and Field Championships

Dooneen AC juveniles at the county finals in Newcastle West

THE Munster U11 to U16 Combined Events & U20/Senior/Masters Track and Field Championships took place in Templemore it was a successful weekend for Limerick athletes.

Juvenile Track
Dooneen’s Destiny Lawal continued her great form winning the provincial U20 200m crown in 25.29 secs.

Juvenile Combined Events
Anna Murphy of Limerick AC was 3rd in the Girls U12 Pentathlon on 971pts while clubmate Zara Coman was 3rd in a very tight U13 contest on 1224 pts. Nessa Halpin Colclough of West Limerick was 4th in the same race. Charlie Smith of Limerick AC was 3rd in the Boys U13 Pentathlon 3rd on 1278 pts with Ruari Boyce of West Limerick 7th.

Senior
Alanna Fratarolli of Limerick AC was 2nd in the Shot Putt on 10.44m. Meanwhile Aaron O’Connor claimed Gold - a first provincial medal for a Limerick Track in the Triple Jump - clearing 12.53m.

Masters
Dooneen’s Shane O’Sullivan won the O40 400m in 56.65 while clubmate Tim Ryan was 1st M60 over the same on 1:05.39.

Clare Burren Marathon Challenge
Dooneen’s John Whitaker was an excellent 10th overall in time of 3:31:56 with his wife Kate O’Brien 4th woman in 4:02:38, Conor Reale Limerick AC 17th 3:41:26, Kilmallock’s Liz Leonard completed her 65th Marathon in 4:48:42 , Half Liam McMahon (Bilboa) 1:58:52 clubmate Aine Flemming 2:08:14, Dooneen’s Claire Knight 2:24:13

IMRA
Dooneen’s Ben Emes was 3rd in Moylussa 10km IMRA race, Ben was actually first to reach the peak before eventually claiming the Bronze medal. Also racing were Seamus McCarthy and Sinead McDermott.
Bilboa’s Declan Moore was a winner for the second week in a row , this time in the final race of the Rebel Diamond League Series. His time of 19:53 gave him victory by more than a minute on this ‘hilly course’.
Karl Lenihan of West Limerick was 4th in a time of 21.29 and first M40. Clubmate Kate Murray was first F40 in a time of 28.25. The Dooneen duo of Mike Clarke and Geraldine Ryan finished in 29:14 and 35:58.

John Buckley Sport 5K
Padraig of Donnell of West Limerick was 48th overall from a field of 1200 with a time of 16:38.

WACT Bronze EA
Íde Nic Dhomhnaill ran the Women's 5000m at the World Athletics Continental Tour stop in Brussels. Ide was 2nd in the Masters race and 7th overall with a great PB time of 15.36.68.

Parkrun
Congratulations to new Dooneen recruit Maria Maher who ran her 100th Parkrun in Mungret on the way to being first lady in a time of 21:53.

Fixtures
The All-Ireland Schools Track and Field Championships take place on May 30-31 in Tullamore.
The Bilboa hosted Ger Mullane Memorial 5K/10K run/walk takes place on Friday, June 13 in Cappamore.
The inaugural Limerick Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, August 3.
