LIMERICK sprint hurdler Sarah Lavin competes in the heats of the Women's 60m hurdles at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in China in the early hours of Sunday morning Irish time.

Emerald AC athlete Lavin is due to be in action in the heats which begin from 2.25am Irish time on Sunday.

Olympian Lavin is set to compete in the second heat which is due to get underway at 2.33am Irish time. Lavin will be in lane five and has the second quickest personal best in the race of 7.90.

The first four finishers in each heat plus the four fastest times from the heats qualify for the semi-finals of the women's 60m hurdles at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Nanjing. The race can be watched live at https://eurovisionsport.com/

The semi-finals of the Women's 60m hurdles will take place at 11.35am Irish time on Sunday with the final scheduled for 1.01pm Irish time on Sunday. The semi-finals and finals of the Women's 60m hurdles will be shown live on BBC2 TV.

Lavin, who is coached by Noelle Morrissey, finished in fourth place in the 60m hurdles final at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands last month.

Running out of lane 6, Lisnagry woman Lavin produced a huge run to clock a season’s best time of 7.92 in a stacked sprint final which was won in a new European record time of 7.67 by Ditaji Kambundji, of Switzerland.
