Curtins Londis Adare 10K

WHAT began as a wild and blustery morning in Adare turned into a pleasant afternoon for the 31st staging of the Adare 10K.

Despite lingering winds and the challenging, hilly course, some outstanding performances were recorded among the 762 finishers.

Jake O’Regan, of St Johns, representing Banner County, claimed victory in a course-record time of 31:30, securing his second win in the event. Declan Moore, of Bilboa AC, ensured he had to be at his best, finishing second in 32:02, while Killian Lynch of hosts West Limerick AC took third place in 33:06, earning the ‘Willie Costello Cup’ as the first West Limerick
man home.

Fourth Declan Guina (33:29), 5th Padraig Nugent (Ennis Track) 34:18, 6th John Longan of St. Finbarrs (34:25).

Team Standings:
1st – West Limerick (32 points- Lynch, Guina, Sheehy, Lenihan)
2nd – Dooneen (49 points)
3rd – Ennis Track (165 points)

Category Winners:
M50: Liam O’Connor (Grange Fermoy) 34:25
M60: Rob Ryan (Shannon) 43:28, 2nd Joe Chawke 44:38
M65: Tony McMahon (Kilmallock) 44:22
M70: John Barrett (West Limerick) 47:50

Among other notable performances: Cian Aherne (9th, 34:47), Karl Lenihan (10th, 35:40), and Ben Emes (13th, 35:53). An Brú AC runners included Gary Egan (38:09), Gerry Prendergast (44:04), Helen Hennessy (52:49), and Anne-Marie O’Connor (53:03).

Women’s Race

WEST Limerick AC’s Amy Murphy was a popular ‘home winner’ of the women’s race in 38:55. She was closely followed by Dooneen’s Shona Keane (39:07), who also claimed the F40 title.

Bilboa’s Pamela Kirby completed the podium om 41:15. Fourth Sinead McDermott (41:37), 5th and 1st F50 Anne MacPhail (42:39) 1st F50), 6th Suzanne Coleman (42:09).

Women’s Team Standings:

1st – Dooneen (18 points: Keane 2nd, McDermott 4th, MacPhail 5th, Coleman 7th)
2nd – West Limerick (35 points)
3rd – Shandrum (186 points)

Category Winners:
F60: Suzanne Ui Dhalaigh 51:06, 2nd Liz Leonard (Kilmallock) 52:07

National Indoor Championships

At Abbotstown, Sarah Lavin secured her seventh National Senior Indoor Title in the Women’s 60m Hurdles with a dominant 8.11s performance.

Íde Nic Dhomhnaill claimed silver in the Women’s 3000m, finishing in 9:21.45. Ciara Neville, overcoming past injury struggles, took silver in the 60m with a time of 7.43, while Emerald AC clubmate Ciara Sheehy finished second in the shot put with a throw of 12.87m. Limerick native Amy O’Donoghue placed third in the 1500m (4:23.74) for Dundrum South Dublin AC.

Other notable results:
Alana Frataroli (Limerick AC) 6th in the Shot Put with a best throw of 11.08
Sarah Butler (Emerald) – 5th in 800m heat (2:18.05)
Lorcan O’Connor (Emerald) – 3rd in 200m heat (24.00)
Jamie Mitchell (Emerald) – 4th in 400m semi-final (50.89), narrowly missing the final
Leagh Moloney (Dooneen) – 4th in Senior Women’s Triple Jump (11.78m)

Local Road Races

Fedamore GAA 5K

Kate Bobka (21:59) and Padraig O’Donnell (17:26) were respective 1 st finishers

Nenagh Half Marathon

John Whitaker (Dooneen AC) placed 10th in 1:22:46.

Limerick Parkrun

Darragh Whelan clocked 15:46, one of the fastest times ever recorded on the UL course.

Awards
West Limerick AC named Íde Nic Dhomhnaill and Declan Guina as their Athletes of the Year, with Eddie O’Sullivan recognised as ‘Club Person of the Year.’

Fixtures

Michael Rejmer 10 Mile (Dooneen AC) – Sunday, April 13th, 11:00 AM at Limerick Racecourse. Entries via Eventmaster (€20, or €15 per person for the new 2x5 mile relay).

The Limerick County 4 Mile Road Championship takes place on Sunday, March 16, enter through Justraceevents.com

Inaugural Limerick Half Marathon – Sunday, August 3rd, 9:00 AM at TUS, Old Cratloe Road. Part of the Run Limerick Series. Entries available via Eventmaster.
