Run Limerick, Castleconnell 5K
THE inaugural Run Limerick Series kicked off at 9am in Castleconnell last Sunday in perfect conditions.
David Meehan, of nearby Tulla AC, ledd from start to finish to take victory in a time of 15:50. Damien Madigan of North Cork took second in 16:13 with Limerick man Niall O’Callaghan completing the podium in 16:30 and was first M40.
Clare's Oisin Bates was next in 16:39, fifth Cian Aherne (Dooneen) 16:48. Also Daniel Lane (West Limerick) 19:51,
Kevin O’Donoghue 20:51, John Shier 23:54 third M50, Ger Meehan 30:16 and 2nd M60.
Dee Collins, of Ennis Track, runner-up in the Tom Walsh 10K last week, went one better this week by taking top honours here in a time of 17:51. Helen Slattery from Cork was 2nd in a time of 20:51 and 1st F60!
Nessa Moloney, of Moreabbey Milers, took the 3rd place prize in 21:53. 4th Rosemarie Giltenane was first (West) Limerick Woman in 21:55. 5th Jennifer Bennett 22:26. F50 Fiona Tracey (Dooneen) 25:06, Yvonne Casey 24:20, Iosla Breathnach 24:29. Tara Carr 25:55
Olympian Kelly McGrory fired the starting gun and there was a total of 130 finishers which was a good showing for a new event. It is certainly a welcome addition to the Limerick running calendar and we wish Timmy Crowe and the organisers, the very best going forward.
Parkrun
LIMERICK Parkrun will celebrate its 9 th birthday, this Saturday and all are invited. John Whitaker (18:03) and Maria Maher (20:59) were first. Marie Wright 22:42, Barry O’Brien 24:43.

-An Bru AC congratulate those who won medals at the County Indoors last weekend which included -U11 Ava Kelly 60m silver, U15 Emily Prendergast shot put silver, U15 Deibhin Reale 60m and shot put silver, and at U20 Holly Prendergast won Gold at Shot Put and Long Jump.

West Limerick Athletics Club invites members & C25K participants for a social run on the Rathkeale Greenway on the morning of Sunday, January 26. This is open to Adults & Juvenile members, but juveniles must have an adult present with them. Club awards for 2024 will be presented afterwards.
Championships in Ennis in a time of 20:49. Paddy Lonergan, of Reenavanna Harriers, was second M45. Limerick were fourth placed County. Carmel MacDomhnaill was 8th Woman.

Fixtures
The Run Limerick Series continues with a 10K on Sunday February 2 in Castleconnell. On March 16 the Run Limerick 4 Mile combines with the County 4 Mile for Limerick Club members, starting at the South Liberties GAA Grounds.

The Munster U20, Senior, Masters Indoor Championships take place in Nenagh weekend of February 1-2 with Juvenile events taking place weekend of February 15 & 22, March 2 and 15.
The Michael Rejmer 10-mile 2025 hosted by Dooneen AC is open for entries on Eventmaster. Entry is €20, a new 4 and 6-mile relay category has been added and entry is €15 per person. It takes place on Sunday, April 13 at 11am from Limerick Racecourse
