Cork City Sports
There was a very welcome return of the Cork City Sports Event on Tuesday night. This was held at the newly reopened MTU Track. The event attracted some of Ireland's top athletes and some international athletes also. We had three club members competing on the night , while club coach Tom Galvin was assisting with the Field events. In the open 3000m men's race Aaron Lynch finished in a time of 9:06:87 and Declan Guina finished in 9:16:51. Ide Nic Dhomhnaill ran in the women's elite 3000m race. Ide was the first Irish woman , finishing a split second ahead of Olympics bound Sophie O Sullivan. Ide's time was 9:08:65. Well done to all.
Docklands 5k
Well done to Eamon Caulfield who ran the Docklands 5k in a time of 22:11.
National Track 10000m
This National 10000m track event was held on Saturday at the famous Morton Stadium. We had two club members , Killian Lynch and Declan Guina racing. It has been a very busy time of track racing for both men and they pushed each other all the way in this race. Killian finished in 9th place in a time of 33:20:26 and Declan finished in 10th place in a time of 33:26:81.
Run Skibb Half Marathon
Well done to club member Tracey Fitzgerald who completed her 1st Half Marathon today in Skibbereen in a time of 2hrs 29min 55sec.
Star of the Laune AC Open Sports Day
Some of our juveniles travelled to Killorglin at the weekend to compete in Star of the Laune AC Open Sports Day.
Mia O’Sullivan came 2nd in U8 200m and 3rd in U8 200m.
Conor McLoughlin came 2nd in U9 300m.
Ciarán McLoughlin came 2nd in U11 600m.
Alex O Sullivan came 1st in both U13 80m and 600m, he also came 2nd in Long Jump.
