THE Irish premiere of the musical Crusade, opening in the Belltable next week, features a cast of 30, mostly young actors.
Crusade is based on a true story – the Children’s Crusade in France in 1212 - and brings together a cast of talented local young people and adults, supported by a professional creative team.
“It’s a musical mainly for young voices, with moving solos and rousing choruses,” say the producers, who include director Richie Ryan and musical director Michael Young, of the musical, written by Craig Christie, Australia’s leading creator of original music theatre.
This is the first time Christie’s work has been staged in Ireland. The youth music project is the first offering in the Belltable’s Autumn programme. It runs from Wednesday August 29 to Saturday September 8. See www.belltable.ie.
