A LEAVING Cert student from St Joseph’s Street in Limerick, has become an overnight sensation after her Hamilton-inspired TikTok went viral.
Zoe Coyle, a pupil of Coláiste Nano Nagle, has been making TikToks for a numner of years, but it was a video of her dressed as Alexander Hamilton, from the hit Broadway musical, that captured the internet’s attention.
“I’m a big musical fan, but especially of Hamilton,” said Zoe, when explaining her inspiration for the Tik Tok.

“I was sitting there with my beard on and I was looking for audio to make a video with. When I heard that audio it reminded me of the first time I ever heard it without context, thinking he (Hamilton) was sneaking away, but when I actually watched the musical, I saw that he actually wasn’t sneaking out,” she explained
The Limerick teen decided to film herself lip-syncing to the emotional track Best of Wives and Best of Women, dressed as Alexander Hamilton, climbing out her window.
“I thought it would be funny to make a video on what I thought was happening,” said Zoe.
Never expected a late-night TikTok to go viral, the humorous twist on a serious moment in the show struck a chord online, and the video quickly went viral, racking up thousands of likes and shares.
"Honestly I was going to take it down the next day, but then I couldn’t because it had too many likes, I had to leave it up,” said Zoe.
The success of the video led to an invitation to New York for the premiere of the new Hamilton movie, where Zoe had the chance to meet the show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
“I met a lot of the cast and had a brief interaction with Lin, I introduced myself and shook his hand. I was starstruck, there were so many amazing people there,” said Zoe.
