RTÉ confirms new 'darkly funny' series will replace The Traitors

The Traitors Ireland has been hailed as on of the best tv shows RTÉ has got their hands on in a number of year's with thousands of people across the country tuning in every week to see which contestant will be either banished or murdered.

One contestant in particular has captured the hearts of the nation which sparked incredible comments on social media such as, "Paudie for President', along with memes of the Limerick man photoshopped into the poster for mafia movie The Godfather with the caption The Paudfather.

Sadly, the nation's heart sank on Tuesday night when we all witnessed Paudie's downfall at the infamous roundtable which saw him being banished, but before he left Slane Castle, the 68-year-old from Kilmallock had an epic mic drop moment when he revealed to his fellow contestants that former contestant Andrew was his son, before revealing that he was, in fact, a traitor.

This has been peak tv for RTÉ with over 600,000 people tuning in to the first episode that aired a little over two weeks ago, but as we say our farewells to Paudie, we must accept that all good things must come to an end.

The Traitors finale will air on Tuesday, September 23, and who ever will be the last one standing, traitor(s) or faithful(s), they will have their hands on a whopping €50,000, and we will all have to wait another year for a new batch of Irish hopefuls to enter the castle.

But it's not all doom and gloom, RTÉ have confirmed that a brand new series, which has been described as "darkly funny", and "emotionally raw", will be hitting our screens the following Sunday (September 28) to fill the gaping hole The Traitors will inevitably leave.

The Walsh Sisters, a new Irish six-part series from RTÉ based on characters written by acclaimed author Marian Keyes in her best-selling novels Rachel's Holiday and Anybody Out There, will follow five sisters - Anna, Rachel, Claire, Maggie, and Helen - as they navigate through family crises, addiction, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood

The series will star Louise Harland who played Orla in hit series Derry Girls, alongside Daniel Halligan, Aidan Quinn, and Carrie Crowley.

Attending the premiere this week in Dublin, beloved novelist Keyes said, "I am so proud, so excited and I just want everyone to see it."
