The 3Arena has warned patrons that they could be thrown out of an upcoming gig without warning over new rules in place for the show.

US comedian Tom Segura brings his Come Together Tour to the 3Arena in Dublin next month on Saturday, March 15, but people are being warned over their phones, and not just using them to record.

Most gigs come with the rules that recording on a device will land you in trouble, but using your phone in any way could see you ejected from Segura's gig.

If you're attending the show, please make note this event will be a phone-free experience," the 3Arena said in a statement.

"Use of phones, smart watches, and accessories will not be permitted during the show."

Adding further details, they said: "The following actions are prohibited during the show: texting and talking on your phone, taking photos and videos, social media of any kind."

The venue added: "Violators will be ejected. No warnings will be given. No refunds will be given."

The phone-free gig is not entirely new and Tommy Tiernan has used it at his gigs where people hand over their phones to be locked in a pouch for the entirety of the show.

Commenting under the post about the rules for Tom Segura, many people agreed with the approach.

One person said: "The best gig I was at was Tommy Tiernan when he done this. He locked the phones people outside all having crack and laugh. A lot to be said for it."

Another added: "Tori Amos did that when she played the Bord Gais, it was mesmerising just watching and not having people's phones in my face."

A third called it a "great idea" and said "all concerts should be like that."

Others were less than impressed with the strict rules. One wrote: "Never heard of him but some neck."
