Limerick hairstylist helps Cillian Murphy among others get glam for IFTAs

A LIMERICK hairstylist helped Cillian Murphy, among other celebrities, get ready for the IFTAs which took place in Dublin on Saturday night.

The Cork man, who took home a trophy for Lead Actor for his performance in Oppenheimer took to the red carpet after Castleconnell native, Gareth Bromell, worked his magic on his locks.

Gareth became a household name after styling Taylor Swift’s hair. Since then, he has worked with A-list celebrities such as Phoebe-Waller Bridge, Lily Allen, Claire Foy, as well as Geri Halliwell.

The hairstylist attended the local primary school in Castleconnell and is the son of former winger Mick Bromell, who played with Thomond RFC, the Bohemians, as well as Munster in the late 70s.

Speaking about what inspired these gorgeous styles and how he created these looks, Gareth said: "Cillian's hair is a little longer now than when I styled him for the Oscars using Dyson’s Supersonic hairdryer. The key for me is to create a great texture with a little volume.

"Cool and undone looking! Think little 60s rock n roll! It really suits him."

Cillian was only one star on Gareth's client list on Saturday night, as actresses Caitriona Balfe and Sharon Horgan also received the star treatment for their hair.

Speaking about crafting Caitriona Balfe’s shorter choppy hair for the IFTAs, Gareth said: "Caitrona's new hair haircut is inspired by my favourite haircut of the 70’s - the shag.

"With heavy bangs and carved out layers. I used the Dyson Airwrap multi-styler with its new diffuser attachment to create a sexy lived in texture. She carries it well."

Of icon Sharon Horgan’s hair, the Limerick man stated: "Sharon's hair is an effortless undone LA texture for the awards.

"I used the Dyson Airwrap diffuser attachment to enhance her natural texture and finished with the Dysons Corrale hair straightener to add face framing bends to give it a funky edge."
