Waterford Whispers launch online shop in effort to generate revenue

To ensure the highest quality, all merchandise will be printed in Waterford

Waterford Whispers, renowned for its sharp-witted satire, is excited to unveil its revamped online shop, introducing a source of revenue crucial in light of the current global decline in online ad spend, impacting media outlets like Vice, Buzzfeed News, Pitchfork and The Times Ireland daily online edition.

In a bid to open new revenue streams, Waterford Whispers is launching brand new merchandise in a bid to keep the lights on in WWN towers and our articles free to read.

“Even though we’re a satire publication we’re as affected by media revenue trends as any other online publisher. It’s just a small team of myself and one other writer producing over 1,000 articles and videos a year, along with live shows and an annual book,” said Waterford Whispers founder, Colm Williamson.

“We’ve dumped Google ads so our readers have a better, clutter-free user experience. We never want to charge our loyal readers for our content, but with tech giants cutting the reach of our satire the new shop represents one way to help fund our day-to-day running costs,” added Williamson.

In a collaboration with artist Ciaran ‘Yohan’ Brennan, Waterford Whispers is unveiling an array of witty designs adorning t-shirts, mugs, hoodies, sweatshirts and more at waterfordwhispers.shop.

From biting political commentary to irreverent pop culture references, each piece promises to tickle the funny bone while being more stylish than a mullet wearing a manbag.

To ensure the highest quality, all merchandise will be printed in Waterford by our trusted partner You Choose.

Customers can expect prompt delivery with faster shipping times as we bring our production home to Waterford.
