'It makes a change from Cáca Milis' Brendan Gleeson reacts to Banshees being added to Leaving Cert

Brendan Gleeson has poked fun at his appearance on the Leaving Certificate curriculum up to date and has welcomed the change for June 2026.

Gleeson appeared in the Irish paper in the short film Cáca Milis where he plays a blind man (Paul) who gets on his usual train and he sits beside a lady named Catherine, played by Charlotte Bradley.

He has no manners and he will not leave Catherine alone.
He eats the cake with no manners and annoys Catherine while she says that there was a worm in his cake and tries to make him think he is on the wrong train.
This induces an asthma attack, and she hides his inhaler and walks off leaving Paul to die.

Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie movie will be on the Leaving Cert English syllabus by 2026 as well as The Banshees of Inisherin directed by Martin McDonagh in which Gleeson plays Colm Doherty.

Speaking about this Glesson said to Pat Kenny on The Pat Kenny show: "Well, thanks be to God, it makes a change from Cáca Milis. I have been stuffing my face for 30 years, the poor Leaving Cert. students. I am glad banshees is on it now I would stand over that any day."
