GARDAI are appealing for witnesses after two phones were stolen from a van in Limerick.
A delivery driver parked his black Mercedes Sprinter van on Lower Cecil Street on Monday, October 16 at 5:20pm.
The driver got out and made a delivery to a nearby shop, he left the van unlocked while in the shop.
Upon returning to the van at 5:30pm, he discovered that two mobile phones had been stolen from the front of the van.
Gardai are asking for people who were in the area between 5:20pm and 5:30pm to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.
Witnesses can contact gardai at Henry Street garda station on 061 212400.
Garda John Finnerty from Henry Street garda station said: "We would like to advise all delivery drivers that there has been a noticeable rise in similar crimes in Limerick city over the past few weeks.
"If you are a delivery driver, please lock the van every time you leave it even if it’s only for a few minutes.
"There are many opportunistic criminals out there who will target vehicles left unlocked even if only for short periods of time."
