New lease of life at former Gretta Gibbs unit in Catherine Street

A LINGERIE shop, which has been part of Limerick’s business environment for 25 years is moving to the site of an iconic former clothes outlet.

Gretta Gibbs Boutique closed in early 2022 as its owners retired, and its unit in Catherine Street has lain idle since then.

But it's set for a new lease of life, with Vamp Lingerie moving into the building in mid-August.

Currently operating in Thomas Street, the shop’s owner and director Devi Campbell had long identified the former Gretta Gibbs shop as a place she wanted to move to.

“We have been in the current outlet for 25 years. I always wanted to have my own premises in the city where we will never need to move again. I saw the building, and I love it,” she told the Limerick Leader this Monday.

Ms Campbell, who hails from Mauritius and has run Vamp Lingerie for the last seven years of its quarter-century existence, confirmed she has purchased the building in the heart of Limerick’s fashion quarter.

"I told a few people I was planning to buy there and they were chuffed. It’s been very positive from everybody,” she said.

As well as selling lingerie, Vamp provides a fitting service, and has served generations of Limerick families.

They also provide tailored items for women who have been through surgery.
