NA PIARSAIGH G.A.A. CLUB NEWS: Our Intermediate footballers opened their Championship account on Saturday evening, when they travelled to Caherelly to take on Oola. We got off to the best possible start, with points from Robert Sheehan and Evan Egan, inside the first five minutes. Playing with a purpose, we took the game to our opponents but wayward shooting and over elaboration, proved costly. Oola slowly came into the game and three pointed frees and a point from play, had them in front by one, 0-04 to 0-03 at the break. The game was a physical one, with the referee busy with his notebook and the yellow card. An exchange of points left the score 0-06 to 0-04 with ten minutes left and a point from a placed ball by Evan Egan, left the minimum between the teams. A fine team move, which resulted in Ronan McKenna blasting over the equaliser with five minutes left, with a goal at his mercy. A draw seemed to be a fair result, in what was not as free flowing, as was hoped. Nevertheless a positive start, with lots to work on for the new management team of Pat McHugh and Pat Lyons. Incidentally the team looking resplendant in their new kit, which was kindly sponsored by Leonards Motors.
