ST Munchin's College have booked their place in the Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup final for the first time in 14 years following their thrilling 43-34 semi-final win over Bandon Grammar School at Virgin Media Park in Cork on Wednesday.
St Munchin's will now face either PBC or CBC, of Cork, who meet in Thursday's second semi-final in this season's showpiece final in March at Virgin Media Park.
Following Wednesday's semi-final win, St Munchin's coach Andrew O'Byrne said being back in the final meant a huge amount for the Corbally side.
Andrew O'Byrne said: "It means everything. There's a huge emphasis on rugby inside in the school, massive, massive rugby emphasis. And, look, we feel it's where we belong, and I suppose it's just been a long time coming.
"I think it was actually Ger Slattery's side (captain of 2006 winning team) who were the last team to win it. So, look, it's nice to be back in a final, and hopefully we can raise our game and be competitive on the day."
