Popular US satirical news programme The Daily Show has slammed Irish people claiming to have beaten Americans at the controversial interactions at the new portal connecting Dublin to New York.
The show played a clip of a young Irish man speaking at the portal, who said people have tried to "one-up" New Yorkers "to see who's worse". He continued to say "we're winning so far so that's good".
Desi Lydic, US comedian and host of the segment on the Daily Show, reacted in shock to this, saying "you really think you're winning, Dublin?"
"New York hasn't even begun to fight. This is a city built on treating the Irish like s***."
Lydic continued, saying "you're just lucky you're mostly dealing with tourists right now, let's move that portal to a middle school in the Bronx".
"You'll be Riverdancing into oncoming traffic once our kids are done roasting you.
"On behalf of New York, let me extend a heartfelt thank you to Irish people who stopped by to say a friendly hello... on their way to their AA meetings!"
