BREAKING: John O’Donoghue elected to Adare-Rathkeale district on seventh count

Councillor O'Donoghue retains his seat

INDEPENDENT Ireland Cllr John O’Donoghue was one of three to get the last three seats in Adare-Rathkeale.

Speaking just seconds after he won his seat, Cllr O’Donoghue said he’s “elated” and spoke about how much of a debt he owes to his brother Richard, a Limerick TD, their party colleagues and all those who supported them.

Speaking to Limerick Live, he said “it means everything” to such a newly established party and that Richard holding a Dáil seat was a big party boost.

Cllr O’Donoghue’s final vote count was 1,830.

He said that getting colleague Tommy Hartigan in was also part of the bigger plan and he’s thrilled with the result.

Speaking to Limerick Live, he said that “everything counts - every bit along the way. It’s hugely important for myself, for Richard and for the party.”
