LIMERICK'S bid for an unprecedented seventh Munster senior hurling title in a row was thwarted by Cork in a pulsating provincial decider at the TÚS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening, the outcome of which was decided by a nail-biting penalty shoot-out.
The great Munster rivals had finished deadlocked 2-27 to 1-30 at the end of extra-time in front of a spellbound attendance of 43,580.
Cork, who were winning their first provincial title for seven years prevailed 3-2 at the end of the historic penalty shoot-out, the first time that a game at this level had been decided in such a manner.

Limerick must now regroup and switch their focus to an All-Ireland quarter-final clash in two weeks' time.
