GAA commentator backs Limerick hurlers to ‘bounce back’ for 2025

Marty Morrissey says he is proud to know some of John Kiely's side - describing them as 'top-notch'

MARTY Morrissey has described the Limerick hurlers as “top-notch” and predicts an almighty comeback this year from the side who have won five of the last seven All-Ireland senior hurling championship titles.

The Limerick senior hurlers begin their competitive season this Saturday when they play Cork in the Allianz Hurling League in Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

“They are the benchmark,” GAA commentator Marty said at this week's launch of the Regeneron Great Limerick Run.

“They are going to do very well, I think they’ll bounce back. I am very proud that my crowd won the All-Ireland,” the Clare man said, “but putting that aside, Limerick set the bar. Great bunch of hurlers and great people as well.

“You couldn’t have a greater bunch of lads. I am proud to know the Limerick hurlers and to follow their journey and commentate on their All-Ireland victories. I feel a little part of them!”

Speaking of the Clare-Limerick rivalry, Marty said that the Banner side “admire Limerick” and that he personally can't wait to see the two sides go head to head in the TUS Gaelic Grounds in the Munster Championship in May.
