WATCH: Spectacular aerial footage shows Limerick city under thick blanket of snow

LIMERICK was covered in a thick blanket of snow this Friday as Storm Emma combined with the so-called Beast from the East.

Council estimates suggest all of Limerick saw at least 5cms (2 inches) of snow, with up to 20 cms (8 inches) in areas including Rathkeale, Newcastle West, Barnagh, Templeglantine, Abbeyfeale, Ballyhahill, Rooska, Carrigkerry and Glin.

Limerick was transformed into a winder wonderland, as people across the city and county got out to enjoy the thick powdery conditions.

Jimmy from Long Range Media in Limerick was in touch with the Limerick Leader to share this spectacular aerial footage of the city, captured on Friday.

Met Eireann has issued an updated status orange weather alert for snow and ice in Limerick, which remains in place until 9am this Saturday morning.
