“A PHENOMENAL day” for the Social Democrats as Cllr Elisa O’Donovan was the second councillor elected to Limerick City and County Council.
The 2024 local elections saw Cllr O’Donovan and newcomer Shane Hickey O’Mara newly-elected to the local authority.
Cllr O’Donovan secured a seat in Limerick City West while Cllr Hickey O’Mara snapped up a seat in Limerick City West.
Cllr O’Donovan proved popular among voters but retained her seat through the process of elimination as she was elected in the 12th and final count without making the quota.
“I’m so honoured to be reelected for a second term in Limerick City West,” she said.
“I love representing this constituency from the city centre to Ballinacurra and all the way out to Ballybrown. I’m going to continue my good work with the people of Limerick City West and I want to thank everyone who voted for me.
“I am thrilled that this term we will have two Social Democrats on the council this time around, which is phenomenal,” she said.
