TRANSFER votes given to Cllr Sarah Kiely means she has secured a seat in Limerick City East.
Cllr Kiely secured election as she failed to meet quota in the first count. She was elected in the eighth count and received 32 transfer votes to get over the line.
Limerick City and County Council seats are filling up thick and fast, as five of seven seats total are now filled for the Limerick City East district.
Cllr Kiely said “hard work pays off” upon being reelected and holding on to her seat for another five years.
“Sometimes when you run for election things get very difficult and the public sometimes don’t realise how difficult it can be,” Cllr Kiely said upon getting her election news.
“The people spoke and thankfully I was elected.”
This time around, Cllr Kiely was elected after eight rounds of counting, compared to that of 2019 when she wasn’t elected until count 11. She is to retain her seat for the foreseeable future.
