THERE was musical madness this Tuesday evening in Patrickswell as John Kiely and the Limerick senior hurlers sang and danced to their favourite tunes.
Following Monday's homecoming in Pery Square in the city centre - which drew an estimated 20,000 people - the Liam MacCarthy Cup kicked off its tour around Limerick's GAA clubs.
As tradition dictates, its first port of call was the captain's home club.
And this time, it was Patrickwell who rolled out the red carpet for the hurlers, the home-club of Cian Lynch.
In the absence of the injured Declan Hannon, he skippered the side for the fabulous win over Kilkenny.
In doing so, he became the first Patrickswell man to captain a Limerick senior county side to hurling glory.
Unlike previous years, at Monday night's homecoming in the city manager John Kiely did not lead the crowd in a song to close out the event.
But there was no denying the crowd in Patrickswell, as the Galbally man serenaded the crowd with one of his 'party pieces', the Piano Man, originally performed by Billy Joel.
Then it was the turn of Sinead O'Brien who led an emotional performance of the Cranberries Dreams, which has become the anthem for the Limerick hurlers' during this period of sustained success.
During the song, players in turn raised the Liam MacCarthy Cup proudly to the delight of the crowd gathered in Páirc Antóin Ó Briain. The stage then began to shake, as they partied on!
