REVEALED: New 21st century building for Limerick school

Sexton Street CBS building undergoing €25m upgrade

MANAGEMENT at a city centre secondary school have revealed a new video of how the facility will appear once it's complete.

Sexton Street CBS is undergoing a new €25m transformation.

This will provide state-of-the-art classrooms, social spaces, science labs and a new sporrts hall.

A special educational needs unit will be included.

The landmark 19th century building at Sexton Street is to remain untouched, but its interior will be completely upgraded. An extension is to be built to the rear of the school with a new modern three-storey extension and stand-alone multi-purpose sports building incorporated onto the site.

The school says the investment will bring about a new 21st century school building.

Founded in 1829, famous alumni of the school include JP McManus, hurling star Eamonn Grimes, and Dr Tony Holohan, the former chief medical officer at the Department of Health.

As well as this, Limerick's first directly elected mayor John Moran studied here.
