Speaking at the launch of the event, Sliabh Wells from The Bear Group, said: “This is our 16th year of the Regeneron Great Limerick Run. Year after year, the event's continued to grow so we'd 18,000 last year... and we're expecting that number to probably hit 20,000 this year.”

“It's going to be starting in Perys Square, finishing on O'Connell Street. We've been looking to add in some entertainment this year so there'll be a couple of new bands, a couple of new locations.”

“It's a busy weekend for Limerick city. There's people coming from all over Ireland, every county is represented and there's going to be about 50 nationalities taking part in the event as well so hotel rooms will be sold out, the town will be full and the place really will be hopping.”

The Regeneron Great Limerick Run is widely regarded as the largest mass participation sporting event outside of Dublin.
