The most controversial football championship of the 2013 season came to an end last Saturday when Rathkeale’s St Mary’s Sean Finns won the U-21 title.
They had played out a thrilling draw with Dromcollogher-Broadford on New Year’s Eve but were sensationally thrown out of the championship last week when it became known that they had fielded an U-16 player, something which is against GAA rules.
However, a late appeal proved successful and the final was given the go-ahead for last Saturday. In Mick Neville Park, they got the better of Drom-Broadford on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-10 and celebrated joyously afterwards.
It ended a great year for the Rathkeale club as they also earned promotion to senior in 2014. Here are some of the best photos as captured by Keith Wiseman for the Limerick Leader.
